Today I road the Queen of Vancouver and as I always do, spent most of the trip on the top deck gazing out at the islands, water and the various birds or other water creatures.
I took notice of the others around me and paused to see what I could see. Most travellers tend to keep to themselves. They sit and read, or eat, or snooze. Some talk among themselves in small groups. Some are on the deck, wandering. Some are working or otherwise engaged in some manner of electronics.
What I noticed most were the obvious tourists. Many taking selfies with the islands as backdrop or pictures of the islands. Some excitedly snapping pictures of the passing BC Ferry. Each smiling and chattering to their travel companion with obvious enjoyment.
I found myself thinking of all the British Columbians who take for granted the beauty of the trip to the island. I wonder why they don't take the time to appreciate our Province and hope I never lose the wonder of it myself.
